Statistics Sweden finds 49 percent of Swedish companies used AI in 2026

The share is up 14 percentage points from 2025, but the survey now covers more industries, which may affect comparisons with earlier years.

A new survey from Statistics Sweden (SCB) shows that almost half of Swedish companies with at least 10 employees used artificial intelligence during 2026. SCB noted that this year's survey uses a new industry classification.

Use of AI grows with company size. Among companies with 10 to 49 employees, 45 percent used AI, compared with 65 percent of those with 50 to 249 employees and 85 percent of those with 250 or more. Of the companies that used AI, 58 percent applied it to more than one purpose. Marketing and sales was the most common area, cited by 55 percent. Administrative processes and business management followed at 52 percent. Logistics was the least common, at 7 percent.

The figures show a wide gap between small and large companies. Large firms are almost twice as likely as the smallest ones to use AI.
